Superheroes are really super popular with children and adults alike, so it’s a great idea for a first birthday party theme.
For the little ones, we’d recommend keeping the party activities simple, but we’ve rounded up lots of fun ideas here for you and your guests to try.
Thor’s hammer throw.
For this activity, all you will need is some paper cups stacked into a triangle, a Thor hammer (which can be easily made with sponge and cardboard) and a helmet. It’s simple, too! The child puts on the helmet, picks up the hammer and tries to knock down the cup. The one that knocks the most cups down wins a prize.

Paper plates.
Get creative and have your guests create their own Captain America shields with paper plates!

Pin the star on Captain America’s shield.
A super twist on these traditional party game, this activity has children trying to pin the star on Captain’s shield whilst blindfolded.

Superhero training.
This superhero training game is sure to have the children roaring with laughter. It’s so much fun!

Bean bag throw.
For this, you will need some bean bags, a large card or wooden board with four large holes (big enough for small beanbags to fit through). Paint it up or stick print-outs to decorate the board with words like ‘BOOM’, ‘WHAM’ and ‘SPLAT’ for a retro comic book look.

Colouring pages.
There’s a massive selection of superhero colouring pages online. Pop them on a table with some chunky wax crayons, away from the hustle and bustle of the party for those guests who may not enjoy noisy games.

Pass the superhero mask.
Inspired by the classic ‘pass-the-parcel’, this game requires players to put on a superhero mask as it is passed around a circle. When the music stops, the child wearing the mask must leave the game. The last child standing wins!

Spider races.
This one is super fun and straightforward. You will need some toy spiders and some plastic tubes. Set a timer for one minute and see how far children can blow the spider in one minute. The kid whose spider has traveled the furthest wins.
