If you want a party that is both memorable yet simple to plan a pirate theme could be for you. We’ve rustled up a list of arrrgh-mazing food and drink ideas for the best pirate-themed first birthday party.
Meanwhile, check out our other first-birthday party ideas here.
1. Plain sailing.
These are definitely some of the scrummiest ships that we have ever laid eyes on. The sails can be crafted from a kebab stick and two small pieces of card.

2. Cannon cheese balls.
Think creatively about what your usual party grub could be in the pirate world. For example, cheese balls = cannon balls, chocolate coins = treasure and carrot sticks = wooden legs!

3. Pirate-mallows.
Alternatively, decorate your food to look like something pirate-y, just like these cute dipped marshmallows.

4. A golden idea.
Make small signs from coloured card, or create your design digitally and print out.

5. The lighter option.
Keep your health-conscious guests happy by adding some nutritious variety to your party spread. Melon slices make fantastic boats…

6. Swashbuckling snacks.
…And, carrots can be made into swashbuckling swords with a bit of thinking outside of the box.

7. Cheesy pirate heads.
A savoury alternative to number three. Grab some mini cheeses and you’re already halfway to making some delicious shipmate-friendly food.

8. Crossaint crustaceans.
Just be sure to remove any small items before little mouths take a bite!

9. Pieces of Eight.
Edible gold spray paint can be used to create these yummy treasures.

10. Tasty teeth.
Serve popcorn as a light snack, especially if a movie marathon is among your plans for the day. Pirates of the Carribean, anyone?

11. Bananas in bandanas.
Bananas are great for slow-release energy. Serve them up so you don’t have to worry about any E number-induced shinanigans.
