If you’re hosting a mountain birthday party for children you might want a few crafts, games and activities on hand for the guests to enjoy. Here’s a selection of some of the best we could find from Pinterest. Most just require a little bit of prep and can be adapted depending on the age of the children coming to the party.
Trail mix bar
This idea would actually work at a mountain party for all ages, you just need to adapt the mix ingredients depending on who’s going to be there. Anything like nuts, seeds, dried fruit, pretzels, candies or marshmallows would be perfect. Set them out in tubs with little scoops and pots or bags to fill. These can also double as a party favor.
Campfire sensory play
If you’re guests are too young to sit around a real campfire (or you don’t have a yard) then a sensory campfire is a great idea. Made from felt and material you can have sticks to gather, rocks to make the fire pit and flames. Have some play marshmallows as well and then you can have the real thing as a snack after.
Your guests can show off their target practice with this axe toss game. The axes can be made using bean bags and padded felt ‘handles’. Make the target using an old cardboard box.
Felt tree pictures
Set up a craft station for children to have a bit of quiet time during the party. This easy craft is great for younger kids. Give them lots of different coloured felt triangles and let them arrange them on the page to create their masterpiece.
Bear claw cookies
If you have a bit of time to fill then these cookies could be a perfect party activity. Have the dough made up beforehand, then give each child a lump for them to shape into a paw. They can add almond claws and a chocolate for the pad. Bake and then let them take home as the party favour.
This is a fun activity with a woodland theme. Each child gets a wood slice to decorate. The more glitter and sparkles the better so put out an array of decorative bits and pieces and let them go wild. Make sure they put their name on and they will make a lovely room door sign.
Snow Shovel Race
Try a minute to win it game for your party with a snow theme. Each guest has a minute to move as many cotton wool balls into a bowl just by using a straw. The one with the most wins!
This would be good for an outdoor party- painting indoors with lots of kids might not be a good idea! Set up some watercolour paints and let the guests paint their picture. Then they can glue on a mountain range with some cotton wool ball snow.
